In September, I spoke with Sonita Mbah on how healing generational trauma can work to heal the earth as well.

On the What is Collective Healing show, we discussed the role that the more-than-human world plays in collective healing and lessons from the enduring reciprocity between Native American communities and the buffalo.

Buffalo once roamed from Florida to Alaska in their tens of millions, but the U.S. government sought to eliminate the species as part of its broader, genocidal campaign against the Native American population in the 19th century.

On the episode, I present a holistic vision of collective healing, where benefits to buffalo, their grassland habitats (which draw down vast amounts of planet-heating carbon dioxide), and Indigenous communities form a virtuous cycle.
